We spend a long time looking for them.

At work. In love. On our travels. In books. In a pastry shop on Sunday morning.

Some people even insist we should look within ourselves.

I found them in the streets of Paris. Well... The words, at least. CLÉS DU BONHEUR. The Keys to Happiness. That's already a very good start.

A Parisian Treasure Hunt

For years, I have walked through Paris with my camera. I photograph façades, signs, shop windows and words encountered along the way. Sometimes I know immediately why I press the shutter. Sometimes I have absolutely no idea. I simply keep the image. It joins the others. A letter. A word. A syllable. A color. A typeface.

Little by little, all these photographs have become my own Parisian alphabet.

Then one day, looking through the collection, two or three words move closer together and a new phrase appears.

Clés du Bonheur. I had the words. All that was missing were the keys.

Happiness at the Bottom of Your Bag

So I turned them into a keychain. I admit that, for once, the journey from words to object was fairly obvious.
