The Boulangerie 28 flap pouch combines two original photographs of a Paris bakery: its storefront when closed and its delicious interior when opened. 19.5 × 19.5 cm, recycled polyester and made in France.
You can hardly knock on the wrong door.
This Paris storefront seems to have decided that turquoise blue is an excellent colour for selling bread. I tend to agree.
Painted flowers surround the windows, while inside there are lights, reflections from the street and all sorts of delicious things that can be seen but not yet tasted.
Closed, the pouch keeps the storefront intact.
Then lift the flap.
Suddenly, being reasonable becomes rather difficult.
Bread, baguettes, pastries and cakes fill the photograph. Shelves appear and colours multiply. The pouch almost becomes a bakery window that you can open and close.
Fortunately, what actually goes inside is entirely up to you.
At 19.5 × 19.5 cm, it is just right for small everyday essentials: a phone charger, earphones, cables, pencils, make-up, a notebook, papers or travel accessories.
Above all, it gives these little things somewhere to live. Because a cable that knows where it belongs is already a small improvement in the general organisation of the universe.
I have been photographing Paris storefronts for years. I love them because they bring together architecture, typography, colour, decoration and memory.
Most of all, they tell the story of a lived-in Paris.
For these flap pouches, I paired the exterior of the shop with its interior. Opening the pouch therefore becomes part of the image: lift a piece of fabric and, symbolically, push open the door.
The original photographs are printed on recycled polyester, and the pouch is made in France in small batches.
A Paris bakery to slip into your bag.
No crumbs. Which is rather convenient.
