Paris Promenades Book Pouch – 20ème Art
In Paris, art sometimes comes in twenty arrondissements.
A black storefront, splashes of color, a tree, a bench waiting for someone… and suddenly the 20th arrondissement is putting on its own exhibition.
This 28 × 20 cm book pouch was created after my customers kept asking me for something simple: a beautiful way to protect a book inside a bag.
So I added one of my Paris photographs.
A picture to carry, a book to protect, and off we go.
Made in Paris, France.
When the 20th arrondissement becomes art
There are museums. Galleries. Major exhibitions advertised all over the Paris Métro.
And then there is the street.
That is the Paris I love to explore on foot, camera in hand, without necessarily knowing what I am looking for. Knowing in advance would spoil half the fun.
One day, walking through the 20th arrondissement, I came across this storefront: Le 20 Art.
I stopped.
Black walls, bright blocks of color, a tree crossing the composition and a bench in front, almost as though somebody had carefully arranged the whole scene for me.
Nobody had, of course.
Paris had simply done the job.
This is the idea behind my Paris Promenades collection: not monumental Paris posing for a postcard, but the city encountered by chance. A storefront, a shadow, a café terrace, an unexpected splash of color. Little fragments of everyday Paris that become souvenirs precisely because nobody intended them to be.
A book pouch, because you asked for one
This pouch has another story.
My customers had been asking me for a pouch large enough to carry and protect a book inside a bag.
And books do deserve a little protection. At the bottom of a tote, a novel may find itself sharing space with keys, a water bottle, cables, a notebook and the occasional mystery object.
Not exactly library conditions.
Measuring 28 × 20 cm, with a generous flap, this book pouch can hold many novels, books and notebooks while keeping them separate from the cheerful chaos of everyday life.
And because useful objects should be allowed more than one life, it can also carry papers, travel notebooks, accessories, cables and all those little things we like to keep together.
A book pouch that happily does other jobs too.
A Paris photograph becomes an object
I photograph Paris while walking through it. Some of those photographs eventually leave the screen and begin a second life on fabric.
Here, the photograph and the shape of the pouch work together. Lift the flap and the image continues, revealing another part of the Paris scene.
The photograph becomes an object.
And the walk continues.
This Maron Bouillie book pouch is made in Paris in small series: photographed in Paris, imagined in Paris and made in Paris.
Slip in a book.
Fold Paris over it.
And go.
